Kumeu Knitting Class

Welcome to Kumeu Knitting class, When I am not behind the camera, you will find me Knitting. I do private one-on-one lessons or with a small group of friends. Drop in days are available during winter. Private classes as fits in with you and my schedule.

Which Class Should I Take?

Beginner class: (for anyone that does not know how to knit)

You will learn how to do a knit stitch and progress to purl shortly after. During the knit, problems will come up and we will then discuss this so everyone can learn. It will be hands-on.  We will cast on and cast off. Then progress on how to follow a pattern.

Knit along class: (you can purl and knit)

Your knitting kit, pattern, and yarn. This is really just come and knit, learn what you need or just to come and have fun. The room is small and can only fit 10 people so payment is to cover room hire each week and your spot.

Private Class: One on one

One-on-one private tuition - a time and day that suits us Both, $30 an hour.

Beginners Class

CURRENTLY running private classes

(you will need to bring ) A light-coloured ball of yarn DK weight/can be called double knit or 8ply.

Knitting needles - 4mm wooden or bamboo - these can be straight or circular. My preference is circulars I find I have more control of needles. Kumeu Knit class If buying Circulars 40cm is good for learning and for the class project.

Please try not to buy Acyclic-based yarns, yes these are cheap but can hurt your hands and are not very comfortable to knit with and it does affect the overall look of your work. There is more to come on this subject. I highly recommended 100% Merino and anything that is a Merino mix such as merino, possum, silk, and cashmere. The blends are limitless really.
